This celebrated Off Broadway hit by John Cameron Mitchell and Stephen Trask was later turned into a critically adored New Line/Fine Line Cinema film. It is an exciting, witty, trashy, tuneful and emotional play with a small cast and low budget with a huge impression. It remains timely with the continued focus on LGBT respect and rights, but it transcends this spotlight. It is simply a story about love, redemption, navigating life and finding your place or other half in this world. This is something everyone can relate to.
For the music lover, it boasts eleven brilliantly written rock musical songs by Stephen Trask that are steeped in the androgynous 1970s glam rock era of David Bowie, John Lennon and early punk godfathers Lou Reed and Iggy Pop. Hedwig and the Angry Inch is a roller-coaster ride, funny, touching, emotionally draining and above all ultimately inspiring to anyone who feels life has given them an inch when they deserved a mile. A brutally honest piece of musical theatre that will run deep into your soul, long after this East German rock goddess has left the building.
Presented in association with Canadian Mental Health Association (Gender Journeys), Courage Peterborough, and Peterborough Pride.
